Sergeant Shalom David, the son of Tzipora and Moshe, husband of Dvora and father of Gil and Nir, was born in Cyprus a year and a half before the establishment of the State of Israel. In 1946, when he was an infant, he immigrated to Israel with his family.

The family first settled in Kiryat Haim. Later, when Shalom was six, they moved to Pardes Hanna. Shalom studied at the elementary school in Pardes Hanna. He was a pleasant, kind, and smiling child. At the age of fifteen, he went to study at the Youth Society in Mashabei Sadeh, in the Negev. There, too, he was loving and loved.

In 1964, before he turned eighteen and as a continuation of his studies in the Youth Society, Shalom enlisted in the IDF as part of the “Mashabim” group (Gar’in). Shalom was an appreciated and dedicated soldier. At the end of his military service, he chose to settle in Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh. He married Dvora. At first, the couple made their home in the kibbutz. Shortly afterward, they decided to move to the city of Karmiel, where their first son, Gili, was born. A year later, they moved to Holon, where the family settled. In Holon, their second son, Nir, was born.

At that time, Shalom joined the career army service in the Engineering Corps. He was stationed in Sinai. Following a leg injury, he was transferred to serve in the central region of the country.

Shlaom was a giving person who sought to contribute, help, and volunteer. He loved military service and carried out every task assigned to him in the best possible way. He never complained and never let himself off easy.

He was also a family man, a devoted and loving husband and father.

Shalom served in the Combat Engineering Corps Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare Center. He was a serious and responsible soldier. He was respected and loved by his commanders, who placed great trust in him.

Shalom had many plans. He aspired to continue and advance on the military track.

On his commander’s recommendation, and to fulfill his dreams, Shalom enrolled in the NCO Transport Commanders Course. Shalom did not live to complete the course.

On 10 March 1971, Shalom fell in the line of duty. He was 24 years old. He was laid to rest at the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery.

May his memory be blessed.
